Your Fall 2020 Wardrobe Prep Starts Now

Looking to the not so distant future

A question / An answer

Which month is the awkward seat filler between summer and the start of fall? Wait you guessed it, hello to you August !!!!!!! How is it that you are already here and simultaneously almost gone? Can an entire month be a philosophical question?

I digress.

With that being said, this article is to help my fellow early birds with prepping your closet for the soon to be chill in the air. Here are some thoughts and things to consider to help with transitioning your closet for the upcoming Fall season.

Start sorting through all of your old fall clothes to get a feel of what you have and what you can give away or sell. Are any of your pieces too small? Has the fabric started to tear? Can you get it mended? Or are they just not fashionable for you anymore at this time in your life? Like many things maybe some of your old items can't be taken with you because you are a new person and these garments are the exact opposite of who you have become since last year and that's okay. Take your time and make a fair assessment, make piles and keep going. Don’t rush through this because you may find a skirt or sweater that can be paired with new accessories and be brought back to life. Make sure you either sell or donate clothes to make room in your closet as well. Honestly, this is a great way to do a needed closet cleanse, you can also make money by consigning items or selling them online through various websites, or try giving them to a friend. Research charity shops and other non- profit organizations to see if they are starting to take these cold weather items, my rule of thumb though is if I give it away to a non- profit that helps women I give away clothing that is in extremely good condition. A garment can have a new life being treasured by another person. Another way to start prepping is to look at clothing in the stores that can be layered such as light sweaters and dresses in slightly heavier materials or thicker tights that can be worn under thinner dresses with boots at least in the early fall. Look at new shoe styles that can really update your look and always, always look at fashion magazines, trend reports and people on the street to find inspiration. Creativity has no price tag. Remember just to take your time and you will be glad you did. Your fall wardrobe this year will be organized earlier and with more efficiency, so that you can spend time pondering more philosophical questions like when will we finally get back to spring and summer again..........................

Love,

Marie
