Nicole Phelps, Vogue Runway's Director explained in her article covering the last show by Carolina Herrera....."Wes Gordon will have his work cut out for him making the Herrera codes relevant to a culture dominated by athleisure and streetwear. But let's hope he tries. We've seen enough of tracksuits and logos." I feel pretty much the same way. There is a place for streetwear and athletic wear but my goodness what has happened to actually getting dressed up to go places. It seems as if in life every social occasion is turning into one big jumble of ripped jeans, sneakers and dare
I say it athleisure wear. I want to go against the culture and not wear this. I understand that as Phelps puts it, the culture is dominated by this and honestly it irks my soul because it seems to be truer ever day. What makes me even more mad is the younger members of the British Royal Family are subscribing to this foolishness of casualness. I dont want to keep seeing it on them, this conversation is for a whole other place and time. But I digress, no one looks different anymore everyone looks the same thinking that dare I say it again ripped jeans and a minimalist top is style. Wear something different, speak a different language with clothes, what are you giving the world that makes people smile and become taken with you. It's sad to think that when I watch programs about the natural world plants and animals have more style and give me more excitement with their colors than a human being who has a specific and unique set of fingerprints and DNA. How interesting to note that a bird of paradise can outshine most women now. Lord help us!
